The evening before:

  • Weather-wise, if conditions do not allow for flying, we cancel flights the day before your appointment or on the day itself. Call us back to find another slot.

  • No news, good news! If you don't hear from us by the day of the flight, it means that the weather conditions should allow us to fly. Meet us on the day of the flight at the take-off point at the latest at the time of the appointment.

  • If you are not from the area, it is better to contact us the day before the flight, by phone, to find out if the weather forecast is almost certain or if we have doubts and we risk to warn you at the last moment...

  • It is also possible that the weather conditions may change very quickly. We ask you to always remain contactable on the number you have provided so that we can get in touch with you as soon as possible and avoid you going up to Puy de Dôme for nothing. It is also possible that the instructor chooses not to take off for safety reasons. This does not happen often and we apologise in advance if it does, but we prefer to postpone a flight even if you are on site, rather than take safety risks.

On the day

  • Before you leave, dress appropriately according to the weather and the temperature they are forecasting. Even if the weather is good in Clermont, it will be cooler at the top of the Puy de Dôme and even cooler in the air! You can lose 10-15°C between the city and the top of the Puy de Dôme and still lose 4-5°C in the air! So remember to take one or two layers and accessories (gloves, hat, sunglasses) in addition to your outfit, depending on the season.

  • For the flight, go to the summit! To get to the top of the Puy de Dôme, there are several options available to you:
    • Take the Panoramique des Dômes train which is open 7 days a week. You can find all the information on their website (https://www.panoramiquedesdomes.fr/). At the cash desk, it is important to say that you are coming for a paragliding experience. For the same price, they will give you an extra pass on your ticket if you have to go back up to the summit after your first flight, if you have relatives waiting for you. Please note! The number of seats on the train is very limited due to current health measures and it is very common for the train to fill up quickly at certain times of the day during the summer holidays or weekends (especially when the weather is good!). We therefore advise you to plan ahead to arrive at the summit on time.
    • Walk up the Chemin des Muletiers via the Col de Ceyssat (about 45 minutes to the summit).
    • Walk up the Chemin des Chèvres from the Panoramique des Dômes car park (about 2 hours to the summit).

  • Once you have reached the summit, you must go to the take-off point at the latest at the time of the planned meeting. The particularity of the Puy de Dôme is that we can take off from all sides (North, South, East, West) depending on the weather conditions. It is very easy to find the take off place because of the number of paragliders that are there. In any case, circling the summit is very quick so even if you don't see any paragliders, you will quickly find where the take-off is.

  • When you get to the launch, don't stand back, come towards the instructors who are wearing the Freedom Parapente jacket (big logo on the back). If you can't find the instructors, ask the paragliders present; everyone knows each other, they will tell you where the instructors of our team are.
